When Albany was named capital of New York in 1777, our nation's founders could hardly have possessed the foresight to see what the region would become for the gay and lesbian community. Today, strong affiliations with nearby cities of Schenectady, Troy and Saratoga Springs make Albany the center of what is known as the Capital District, which is the fourth-largest urban area in New York State.
Reflecting the many diverse factions that make up a cosmopolitan area, the LGBTQ community converges together to create Gay Albany.
